Post University School of Business enters Candidacy for ACBSP Accreditation

I'm very proud to say that Post University has entered Candidacy for ACBSP Accreditation. Why pursue this additional accreditation? Because it demonstrates our commitment to continuous improvement, innovation, and scholarship in the classroom.

The ACBSP (Accreditation Council for Business Schools and Programs) is a premier accrediting association for business schools and programs with a focus on teaching excellence.

It is the only business accrediting organization for all associate, baccalaureate, and graduate degree programs. ACBSP Accreditation is also one of the major aspects many prospective business students look for in a business school.

Although Post University is already accredited by the New England Association of Schools and Colleges (NEASC), earning ACBSP accreditation is an important step in validating the integrity and value of our undergraduate and graduate business programs. In fact, Post University was founded in 1890 as a business school. We've since developed a long tradition of creating business leaders in a variety of fields.

More recently, in 2007, we launched Connecticut's first completely online MBA degree program, which was also awarded a Connecticut Quality Improvement Award Silver Innovation Prize in 2009.

The next phase to completing ACBSP Accreditation is a rigorous review and evaluation process by a team of peer evaluators. In June, we'll be awarded a Certificate of Candidacy for Accreditation at the ACBSP Annual Conference's Accreditation Banquet in Indianapolis, Ind.

We're looking forward to continuing to move through the ACBSP Accreditation process. If you're interested in more details on the accreditation, feel free to read our press release and visit the ACBSP's website.

Post University Enters Candidacy for Accreditation With the Accreditation Council for Business Schools and Programs

March 8, 2011 (Overland Park, KS) -- Post University in Waterbury, Conn. has been approved to enter Candidacy for Accreditation with the Accreditation Council for Business Schools and Programs (ACBSP). Post University will be awarded a Certificate of Candidacy for Accreditation at an Accreditation Banquet held June 26, 2011 during the 2011 ACBSP Annual Conference in Indianapolis, Indiana.

Post University has been assigned a mentor who will guide the school through the accreditation process. In addition to preparing a self-study of the University's current business programs, the accreditation process includes site visit by a team of peer evaluators. The ACBSP Baccalaureate/Graduate Degree Board of Commission has authority to grant final approval of accreditation.

"We are delighted to welcome Post University as a candidate for ACBSP accreditation," said Executive Director Douglas Viehland. "The fact that Post University is pursuing ACBSP accreditation shows a commitment to providing the highest quality business education for their students."

ACBSP is a leading specialized accreditation association for business education supporting, celebrating, and rewarding teaching excellence. Established in 1988, ACBSP is the only business accrediting organization for all associate, baccalaureate, and graduate degree programs. In 2001, ACBSP was recognized by the Council on Higher Education Accreditation (CHEA).

"We see this as an important step in validating the high quality undergraduate and graduate business programs offered to both our on-ground and online students," said Donald Mroz, Ph.D., Dean of the Post University School of Business. "We look forward to the review process and to earning the distinction of being an ACBSP-accredited University."

ACBSP continues to grow, having recently added its ninth region to better serve member institutions in Latin, Central and South America. There are currently more than 932 member campuses, including 521 accredited institutions and 331 campuses in candidacy for accreditation. This also includes 142 institutions from outside the United States representing 48 different countries.

Founded in 1890, Post University offers a wide array of degree programs for on-campus and online students of all ages, and is known for its quality, career-driven academic programs, small highly interactive on-campus and online classes, and competitive NCAA Division II athletics. In 2009, the University's online MBA degree program, which includes a strong focus on innovation, creativity and entrepreneurship, was among the programs awarded a prestigious Connecticut Quality Improvement Award Silver Innovation Prize. The University's nearly 6,000 full- and part-time students come from the United States and abroad, and are supported by faculty whose mission is to prepare students to compete and succeed in today's global workplace. Post University is accredited by the New England Association of Schools and Colleges, Inc., through its Commission on Institutions of Higher Education.
